SBS is managed by a non-profit organization – Zayn Educational Trust (ZET). Its aim is to develop as a business school of excellence over time as Punjab despite robust agriculture and the industrial economy does not even have a management institute of national repute let alone international standard.
Most privately-funded academic institutions the world over depend on resources from corporations, charitable foundations and alumni to meet their capital and revenue expenditures.
The attainment of objectives of imparting high standard of management education is resource-intensive. SBS require resources to attract qualified and experienced faculty, develop state-of-the-art civic facilities at campus, develop library facilities and dedicated wireless broadband facilities for the computer center, etc. and last but not the least earmark funds for undertaking research and scholarships for meritorious students.
You can support the cause of SBS by funding its various activities. As such you become a partner for long term sustainability of professionalism of business leadership and overall development of business and social community.
Zayn Educational Trust
The Non-Profit Trust works as on NGO Foundation registered as a Trust, Charitable society and as a registered NGO with Niti Ayog. ZET undertakes various social causes in the professionalism of education, providing opportunities to the underprivileged sections of society to move up the social pyramid, undertaking free medical camps, and imparting female empowerment through female hygiene and education workshops. Brief profile of ZET.
A good professional education and training program is an exercise in developing Knowledge, Attitude, Skills & Habits (KASH). In the Traditional system of management education, unfortunately, the basic emphasis is on Knowledge alone – that too is ‘Cognitive Knowledge’ rather than ‘Behavioural Knowledge’. Today in the highly competitive global environment, organisations are re-visiting their HR and People policies. The traditional wisdom of ‘recruiting knowledge and training attitude’ is yielding place to new thinking of a learning organization – ‘recruit attitude, train knowledge’ – because knowledge-seeking is a continuous process in the fast-changing environment.
At SBS, therefore we emphasize a good blend of Knowledge, Attitude & Skills. As a prelude to starting autonomous, full time, job-oriented Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM), at our new campus, we experimented with a new pedagogy in two short-term Certificate Program in Management (CPM) in collaboration with a big business house in Ludhiana.
The basic emphasis was on developing positive attitude & management skills. We adopted an innovative teaching learning methadology. The pre-lunch hours were dedicated to classroom teaching & post-lunch hours were utilized for activities such as case studies, role playing, creative thinking, student presentation, discussions & group activities, which helped in selflearning & developing communication & presentation skills. Interactions with guest faculty from the industry on a regular basis helped students in gaining practical wisdom in various areas of management.
The students of were readily taken by reputed companies like Vardhman, ICICI Bank, Abhishek Industries, IOL, Larson & Turbo and others. We have followed the same, rather more rigorous, pedagogy for SBS’s PGDM programs which was started with industry collaboration. We had taken only a small group of selected students in our first two batches who have passed out and were readily absorbed by reputed organisations mainly through campus interviews. We have now started a Dual Degree Program – MBA+PGPM – for the first time in Punjab. In addition, SBS is starting from this session PG Diploma Program in Retail Management after signing MOUs with some of the leading retailers/organisations in India, with guarnateed placements. I am sure, the students will take advantage of these unique opportunities for their career development.
Finally, SBS takes an holistic view of management for talent and skill development. SBS will never be a mere teaching shop. For us executive training, consultancy and research assume equal significance.
