    SBS kick started new session with an Orientation Program on 25th July 2018

    Synetic Business School….College with a Difference kick started the 2018-19 Academic Session with an Orientation Program on 25th July 2018 to welcome the new students to the SBS Family. In this event students participated in various activities with great enthusiasm. and making the event a great success. Here new students were introduced to the SBS Family and given a dream to work hard to become managers, technocrats and entrepreneurs of tomorrow. They were introduced to the faculty and familiarized with the rules and regulations of the Campus. During the induction program, students were also entertained with exciting games, quiz competitions and various motivational videos. The event was inaugurated by our Chief Patron Dr. M.A. Zahir by lighting the lamp and giving the keynote speech to the students, faculty and guests. Dr. Zafar Zahir interacted with the new comers and shared his valuable experience and knowledgeable information with the students. The faculty members gave an introduction to the BCOM, BCA, BBA and the newly started PG course of MCOM (HONS). The Orientation Day concluded with awarding medals of honour to the nine students of SBS, who have topped in University merit list.

    SBS College shines in PTU’s Merit Lists, Nine students bagged 10 top positions

    Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar released the Merit Lists of all examinations conducted by it in Nov 2017, April 2017 and Nov 2016. Synetic Business School Ludhiana created history by bagging a total of 10 positions in these Merit Lists. Besides this, one of its student bagged first position in PTU in discipline of commerce. Jaspreet Kaur of 5th semester Commerce secured first position, Hema Kesari of 3rd semester Commerce got 3rd position, Mansi Kakkar of 1st semester Commerce got 4th Position, Balkaran Kaur of 3rd semester commerce got 4th position, Kumari Manju of 3rd semester commerce got 7th position, Deepika of 3rd semester commerce got 7th position. Jyoti, Lata Pandey and Priya of commerce got 8th, 9th & 10th position. They will all be given scholarships by the management of SBS Ludhiana as a prize for this enviable achievement.

    Speaking on the occasion Dr. Ghazala Qadri, Chairperson SBS, said that the credit for this excellent achievement goes to the teachers as well as the students. Dr. Zafar Zahir, Management Trustee, said that it is a matter of pride for this college to have such a large number of students in the Merit lists of PTU and added that the top priority of management is to give quality education to the students. For this, most talented teachers are appointed who give personal attention to each student and best possible infrastructure is provided to the students.

    UMEED- JOB FAIR HELD SUCCESSFULLY AT SBS, PROVIDING EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY TO 100s of GRADUATES

    ‘UMEED’ Job Fair – an Annual Event was held in the SBS Campus on 23rd June 2018. Umeed Job Fair offers a platform for job seekers and industry looking for candidates to manage and grow their business. It’s an endeavour of SBS to provide employment opportunity to the graduate and postgraduate students of Punjab. This year various manufacturing and service sector organisations such as Walmart, Vacancy India, Indiabulls Venture, Religare, New Era Machine, Tech Auto India, Oster Group, National Press Associations, DBC Trust, Nano Chemical Brothers, JV Exports, USBCO Steels, Vayutel, Aditya Birla Capital, NGO and Charitable Organisations, etc. participated in the Job Fair. Students from various colleges and institutes in and around Ludhiana were interviewed and around 50 were short listed for final selection. In addition, some candidates were short listed for posts such as HR Manager, Marketing Executives, Finance Executives, Management Trainee, etc. The manufacturing companies were a little disheartened as not many Engineering students turned up for the Job Fair. These companies were unable to fill the vacancy for Trainee Engineers. Also some of the companies pointed about the high expectations of candidates and a total mismatch between their skill/knowledge displayed during the selection process. It is one of the objective of SBS to bridge this gap and Umeed is one small step in this direction. Dr. Ghazala Qadri, Chairperson of SBS informed that for this Job Fair more than 30 colleges were contacted and individual messages, phone calls and emails were made to a number of job seeking candidates informing them about the job opportunities. The student and the faculty of the institute managed the Job Fair.

    The Story Behind Eid-ul-Fitr

    Eid is celebrated on the 1st day of Shawwal the tenth month of Hijri Calender. This year Eid is being celebrated in the middle of June, about two billion Muslims around the world will celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr, the three-day festival commonly known as “Eid”.  Eid is commemorated by many different cultural rituals, colors, and festivities in countries across the globe. Each region has specific customs, foods, and traditions associated with this celebration.

    The holiday marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting and is a culmination of the month-long struggle towards a higher spiritual state. Ramadan holds special significance for Muslims, since the Quran, the book of Muslim scripture, was revealed during this month.  It is also the time when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset each day, refraining not only from food and water but also from both materials as well as spiritual vices, such as lying, cheating, violence, or theft. The fasting is not only a symbol of sacrifice and purification, but also a measure of self-restraint and a tool for encouraging compassion for the hungry, the poor, and the less fortunate. Charity and service are especially emphasized during Ramadan, and Muslims are required to donate food and a percentage of their savings to the under-served and neglected in society.

    During the month of fasting, there is an increased sense of community, sacrifice, and devotion to God. In addition to the five daily prayers, there are nightly family gatherings for the iftari or breaking of the fast. And praying together for forgiveness and good-will is a daily event. Muslims generally break their fast with dates, the traditional fruit of the Arabian peninsula. Along with the dates, special snacks like fried vegetables and spicy lentils are also eaten for iftari. Drinks such as freshly squeezed lemonade mixed with rose-water are also commonly prepared during Ramadan.

    As the Islamic calendar follows the lunar cycle, Eid begins with the sighting of the new moon at the end of Ramadan. Each year, the holiday moves back about ten days in accordance with the movement of the lunar cycle. In many countries, festivities begin on the night before Eid, known as the chand raat or the night of the moon. Girls decorate their palms with henna or mehndi, and dance to traditional music, while cooking for the grand feast the next day gets underway.

    On Eid morning, families offer a special prayer of thanks to God and then begin the celebrations with food and merriment. In most parts of the world, people give each other gifts and new clothes, children receive money from their elders, special feasts are held for relatives, and desserts adorn the dinner table for days while families and friends reunite in celebration.

    Firstly, we feel pleased to introduce you about our institute, engaged in Management Education, Market Research, Training and Consultancy, established by renowned academician Dr. M. A. Zahir­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­­, retired as Professor & Dean of Management, PAU, Ludhiana.
